Tanzanian Driver Guide

My name is Renatus, a Tanzanian driver-guide with over 11 years of experience, from the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater to Kilimanjaro, Zanzibar and the southern parks. I speak English and French fluently.
Growing up near the national parks, I watched Land Cruisers pass and dreamed of showing visitors Tanzania’s elephants and lions. Years later, seeing guests’ faces light up at their first lion in the Serengeti reminded me why I had chosen this path.
What I love most is not just driving and animals — it’s taking care of my clients. Making them safe, making them laugh, helping them get the perfect photo, and showing them the real Tanzania beyond the parks — the villages, the food, the people of Tanzania.
Sharing my home, connecting with people from around the world and creating memories that last beyond the journey.
— Renatus

Tanzanian Driver Guide
My name is Victor, a Tanzanian driver-guide with seven years of experience. I speak English and French fluently. I enjoy sharing stories about wildlife and landscapes, and I love photography—from lions resting in the shade to elephants crossing the plains and African sunsets.
I pay attention to the little things: a comfortable atmosphere, a shared laugh and time to enjoy a special sighting or photograph. I want guests to travel at their own pace and leave with lasting memories, new discoveries and a deeper appreciation of Tanzania.

Tanzanian Driver Guide
My name is Joel, a Tanzanian driver-guide with nine years of experience. I enjoy using binoculars to spot wildlife hidden in the grass, on distant hills or high in the trees. I love observing animal behaviour, identifying birds and sharing the small details of the natural world.
I encourage guests to ask questions, follow their interests and take time to watch what nature reveals. From elephants crossing the plains to predators resting in the shade, I aim to make every game drive engaging, informative and memorable.

Kilimanjaro mountain guide
My name is Peter, a Tanzanian Mount Kilimanjaro mountain guide with eight years of experience. I enjoy sharing the mountain’s spectacular landscapes with climbers from around the world and supporting them through the challenges of their journey towards the Roof of Africa.
One of my favourite moments is watching the sunrise above the clouds. My guiding philosophy is “Polepole” — slowly, slowly: keeping a steady pace, allowing time for acclimatisation and supporting every climber throughout the journey.
I hope you leave with more than summit memories: a rewarding experience and a lasting sense of achievement.

YOUR TRAVEL BRIEF
BOOK WITH CLARITY
From deposit to refund, know where you stand.
Version & effective date: 26 October 2026
This policy is issued by TANVOYA ADVENTURE LIMITED (Tanvoya Adventure) and applies to new bookings made from the effective date that incorporate it. Existing bookings retain their original terms unless both parties agree otherwise in writing.
The trip starts on the date of the first purchased service in your confirmation, including any included arrival transfer or arrival-night accommodation. Days mean calendar days, calculated using local dates in Tanzania. Business days are Monday to Friday, excluding Tanzanian public holidays.
Please enquire at otto@tanvoyaadvanture.com. This website does not accept online bookings or payments. Before payment, your confirmation will identify the contracting party and payment recipient, travellers, service dates, itinerary, accommodation, meals, transfers, activities, inclusions, exclusions, currency, total price, payment dates and applicable policy version.
A booking is established once confirmed in writing and the required payment is received as agreed. An enquiry or quotation alone does not reserve rooms, vehicles or places. If an agreed service cannot be confirmed after payment, you may accept an alternative or receive a refund for the unconfirmed part without a customer cancellation charge.
Prepare a travel briefThe traveller or an authorised lead booker must email otto@tanvoyaadvanture.com with the booking, travellers and services to cancel. Notice is the trip start date minus the local date the email reaches our inbox, regardless of when we read or reply to it.
| Notice before trip start | Maximum % of cancelled services’ price |
|---|---|
| 61 days or more | 0% |
| 31–60 days | 30% |
| 15–30 days | 50% |
| 8–14 days | 75% |
| 7 days or less, or no-show | 100% |
These are maximum charges, not automatic penalties at the highest rate. We will explain the calculation and deduct saved costs, recovered funds or resale proceeds as required by applicable law. The base is the total price of the cancelled services, not the deposit.
Cancel 61 days or more before the trip starts for a full refund of all travel payments received, including the deposit, in the original payment currency. No cancellation, supplier, administration or refund-channel fees are deducted, and the refund does not depend on suppliers refunding us first.
For example, for a trip starting on 1 July 2027, cancellation received on 1 May gives 61 days’ notice and a full refund; 2 May gives 60 days’ notice and falls within the 30% cap.
Your refund is the relevant travel payments received minus the final lawful cancellation charge, with a minimum of zero. All permitted supplier, payment-channel and other deductions form part of that charge and remain within the cap, with no duplicate or additional fees above it. At 61 days or more, the charge is always zero.
For cancelled services priced at USD 4,000: cancelling 70 days before means a USD 2,000 deposit is refunded in full, or USD 4,000 if fully paid. Cancelling 45 days before after full payment gives a USD 2,800 refund if the final charge is at the 30% cap.
Flights, visas or insurance bought and paid for directly with another business follow that business’s terms. Partial cancellations are calculated on the affected services; room supplements or shared-cost changes for remaining travellers need separate explanation and written acceptance, without double recovery of the same loss. We do not automatically debit any excess charge over payments received; any outstanding balance must be assessed under the contract and applicable law.
We will acknowledge cancellation within 3 business days and provide an initial breakdown within 5 business days. Clear, undisputed refunds will be initiated within 14 calendar days of receipt of the cancellation notice. At 61 days or more, all travel payments received are refundable without waiting for supplier settlement. Any shorter legal deadline or requirement to complete the refund within that deadline takes precedence.
Refunds normally use the original payment currency and channel. Bank posting can take additional time, and a customer’s bank conversion may produce a different amount in another currency. If the original channel is unavailable, we will verify the recipient and alternative method. For other notice periods, any unresolved portion will be explained with its amount, reason and next update date, with updates at least every 10 business days. This does not delay clear refunds or extend legal deadlines.
If we cannot deliver confirmed services, we will offer alternatives for you to accept or decline. If no acceptable alternative is available, payments for undelivered services are refunded. If the entire booking cannot proceed before departure, all travel payments for that booking are refunded. Any further company liability under applicable law remains unaffected.
Weather, roads, park closures or major safety changes will be assessed for alternatives, rescheduling or settlement of undelivered services, rather than automatically treated as customer cancellation. The 61-day full-refund rule and any legal rights to terminate without charge, receive refunds or other remedies remain unaffected. Personal illness, visa refusal or flight problems do not automatically allow free cancellation or changes; insurers decide claims under the policy.
Email us with any questions about terms, services or refunds. We will acknowledge receipt within 3 business days and provide an initial response within 5, with a next update date if further investigation is needed. Updates do not unilaterally change confirmed bookings. Ambiguities between language versions will be clarified in writing without reducing your rights under applicable law.
otto@tanvoyaadvanture.comTRAVEL PREPARED
Understand your cover, prepare for travel and know how to seek help.
Version & effective date: 26 October 2026
Our current safari and trekking itineraries exclude personal travel and medical insurance unless the confirmation explicitly lists an insurance purchase service, policy and cost. Arrange cover for your destinations, full travel dates and activities, and check emergency medical treatment, evacuation and repatriation. Consider cancellation and trip-interruption cover too.
Check exclusions, excesses, health-declaration requirements, emergency assistance contacts and any prior-authorisation rules for treatment or transport. Claims are decided by the insurer under the policy; having insurance does not replace the company’s legal service obligations.
Current official guidance requires foreign visitors entering first through mainland Tanzania to obtain inbound insurance from NIC, or from ZIC when entering through Zanzibar. Check the latest requirements for your nationality, status and entry point before travel, and review policy cover. Do not assume inbound insurance covers every activity or all evacuation costs.
Read the Tanzanian embassy noticeBefore climbing Kilimanjaro, obtain explicit confirmation from your insurer for your route, activity and maximum altitude. A generic hiking policy may not suffice. Seek suitable medical advice for your circumstances and discuss pace, acclimatisation and personal equipment before departure. Reaching the summit is not guaranteed.
A park rescue fee listed in an itinerary does not mean free helicopter rescue, all medical transport or hospital cover. The method and timing depend on weather, terrain, communication, medical assessment and available resources. Air rescue and fixed response times are not guaranteed.
Local services, vehicles and insurance must be checked for the specific booking; company registration alone does not establish them. Before payment, confirm with us the actual operator, required licences and relevant insurance evidence, including covered services, vehicles, dates, liability and main exclusions. One document does not establish cover for every activity.
Follow guide and park instructions on safari, keep your distance from wildlife and do not leave the vehicle without permission. If you feel unwell while trekking, tell your guide immediately, stop the activity and seek professional advice promptly; reaching the summit is secondary. Respect community customs and ask before taking photographs.
otto@tanvoyaadvanture.com is for enquiries, documents and follow-up, not emergency rescue. Contact assistance does not guarantee insurance payment, free care or unlimited advance funding. Costs and responsibilities follow the contract, policy and applicable law. Emergency care should not be unnecessarily delayed solely for financial approval or an insurer’s reply.
Read official health & emergency guidanceDo not enter passport numbers, payment-card details or detailed medical records in the website planner. If information is needed to arrange services or deal with an emergency, agree an appropriate submission method with us and provide only what is necessary. Confirm your nominated emergency contact privately in your pre-trip details.

This eight-day safari explores northern Tanzania’s varied landscapes and wildlife areas: Arusha National Park, elephant-rich Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the vast Serengeti plains and the Ngorongoro Crater.
Two nights in the Serengeti give you more time to explore the park and follow wildlife movements without rushing. The journey ends with a morning in the Ngorongoro Crater, before returning to Arusha or Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).
DAY BY DAY
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be met and transferred to Arusha. Depending on your arrival time, relax at your accommodation or explore Arusha at your own pace.

After an early breakfast, descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a morning game drive. Search for lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, hyenas and other wildlife, with a possible sighting of the endangered black rhino if you are lucky. Plan from this ideaBEYOND THE LANDSCAPE
Explore Hadzabe, Datoga, blacksmith, Iraqw and Maasai experiences with Martha and David, with the option to discuss a safari or Kilimanjaro combination.

Local cultural experience team
Martha and David’s cultural experience team shares insights into local communities and helps discuss cultural visits and travel arrangements.

Local culture, real connections
Cultural experiences begin with conversation. Choose the encounters that interest you, then discuss community activities, suitable timing and travel pace with local partners.
Plan a journey around culture or discuss combining it with a national park safari or a Kilimanjaro trek. Shape each part around your interests and available days.
These introductions draw on the cultural guides shared by Martha. Choose the topics that interest you, then confirm the encounters and visits available with the local team. Cultural background is not a fixed daily programme.

Martha’s Hadzabe guide outlines 20 topics, from knowledge of the bush to community life. Shape your visit around the traditional skills, language and everyday life that interest you most.

Martha introduces Datoga communities through their pastoral way of life. A visit can explore traditional homes, clothing, crafts and household routines, and the connections between people, livestock, land and food.

This experience focuses on Datoga blacksmithing. Martha’s guide traces the process from collecting metal through melting, hammering and shaping to the finished objects, revealing the skills behind household items and jewellery.

Martha’s Iraqw guide introduces agro-pastoral life in Tanzania’s northern highlands, alongside community locations, language and history. A cultural visit offers time to discuss this local way of life.

Martha’s Maasai guide centres on pastoral life, music, dance, beadwork and cultural transmission. Begin with songs and crafts, then explore household life and the different life stages within the community.
Respect the community’s pace and willingness to take part, and ask before taking photographs. Confirm dates, activities, costs and transfers with the local partners.
